The production line for Urban Control’s control node circuit boards required jigs to help the workers on the line perform the detailed programming tasks accurately, repeatedly and with ease as quickly as possible.

For speed, it was proposed to design 3D printed jigs as an initial solution, though as it turned out they proved so successful they were kept permanently. The design below successfully programmed over 25,000 units off the ‘prototype’ with no major servicing during this time.

A capacitor mount was then incorporated to allow the soldering of that component to take place while the jig was being programmed for even greater productivity.

The cover caps and other components were developed at the same time and that project can be viewed here.
